65 years ago, CCV was established by founders Cor and Bep van de Velden in Arnhem. What started out as a small accountancy firm quickly grew to become the leading international payment partner we are today. From pioneering the first electronic payments in the Netherlands in the 1970s to offering mobile payment terminals and next-gen online payment services across Europe, we’ve always led the way in payments at CCV.
Our successes are due to our forward-thinking and commitment to entrepreneurship. We’ve always understood the challenges entrepreneurs face and have consistently striven to make a difference in their businesses – and we continue to do so with complete dedication. Innovation and development have always been important focuses for CCV and have brought us to where we are today. But how did we get here? We want to take you on a journey back in time.
60s
1958 – CCV’s beginnings
CCV is founded in Arnhem. In 1958, CCV founders Cor and Bep van de Velden decide to take over an accountancy firm. What starts as a tiny firm in an attic in Arnhem is quickly transformed by their keen entrepreneurial spirit into Computercentrum Cor van de Velden – CCV.
1967 – Pioneers in accounting
As a representative of the EK Williams accounting system, CCV is the first to introduce a semi-automatic accounting system in the Netherlands. The first computer is invested in, and soon afterwards CCV starts purchasing a number of computer centres.
70s
1973 – Pioneers in payments
CCV makes the first in a series of investments in computer centres. In the 70s, CCV has already purchased 30 new IBM/360 computers and various computer centres, including service centres, in the Netherlands. Future-proofing will remain a common thread for CCV over the years.
1979 – CCV develops time-recording systems
In the late 70s, CCV develops systems to automate customers’ business processes. Among other things, techniques are developed for time recording and pharmacies.
80s
1989 – CCV makes the first PIN transactions possible
Progress in the payment world: the first PIN transactions were carried out in 1988 with a debit card. CCV plays a key part in this. CCV also begins selling the Verifone payment terminal in the Netherlands.
90s
Developments in the payment world continue at lightning speed in the 90s. The first mobile payment terminals appear in the Netherlands during this time.
1992 – Card-based loyalty programme introduced
The first card-based loyalty programme creates a bond between people and businesses. CCV launched its first loyalty programme in 1992. It’s unique at the time but proves forward-looking and future-oriented.
1994 – First card transactions processed in a chip/smart card
A landmark innovation! The first transactions with a chip or smart card can be performed. Over the coming decades, it becomes impossible to imagine a society without this development.
1996 – Introduction of vending machines
The first vending machines are introduced in the mid-90s. After completing payment at the machine, customers receive their chosen product immediately.
1998 – CCV introduces the first mobile payment terminal in the Netherlands

In the 2000s, we are on the brink of international expansion. This decade will enable us to take major steps forward and expand our reach beyond the Netherlands.
2000 – European expansion

2003 – CCV enables the first online transaction for BP fuel stations in the Netherlands

Following our growth in the offline field, it is time to also grow and expand digitally. With the launch of the MyCCV portal and omnichannel strategies, CCV takes another step forward in the payment world.
2010 – First MyCCV portal pilot
CCV customers can now view transactions and generate detailed (real-time) reports in their customer portal.
2012 – Enny van de Velden joins the family business
Enny van de Velden, daughter of founders Cor and Bep, joins the family business in 2012. CCV also begins a partnership with PAX.
2014 – BiedMeer and J4S acquired
CCV takes over BiedMeer and J4S. This reflects the new omnichannel strategy and allows CCV to offer businesses a complete service, including online payment acceptance.
2012 – Enny van de Velden joins the family business
Enny van de Velden, daughter of founders Cor and Bep, joins the family business in 2012. CCV also begins a partnership with PAX.
2014 – BiedMeer and J4S acquired

2015 – Start of CCV Easy
We launched CCV Easy in 2015. The business unit provides fast, secure solutions for self-service and cashless payments.
2018 – CCV co-founder Bep van de Velden dies
Bep van de Velden dies at the age of 86.
2018 – Phone POS development with partner Rubean
CCV is the first to introduce an Android-based payment terminal. This milestone represents a remarkable leap towards enhanced user-friendliness and innovation.

The focus this decade is on building a future-proof payment platform.
2022 – CCV founder Cor van de Velden dies
Founder Cor van de Velden dies at the age of 91.
2022 – CCV launches new branding in honour of its founders
CCV believes in the power of payments and its impact on the success of businesses and the economy as a whole. Our new visual identity conveys this impact.

CCV has already introduced many innovations in its 65-year history. We have a long history of pioneering in the payments industry, stretching back to 1958. We were the first in the Netherlands to introduce several innovations, such as cashless payment, mobile terminals and direct transaction processing for card payments, which are now regarded as standard worldwide.
